Am looking at and acer aspire 5810t with windows vista for a friend. After removing 5 antivirus and malware programs I ran SFC /scannow and found corrupt files. However sfc was unable to repair them. I know windows 10 has the dism option but apparently vista does not. I did read that it was available for vista with SP1.

This acer has sp2 and I was wondering if DISM is still available, from where and if it might help to resolve the problems files.

The system boots fine but according to the owners has slowed considerably. any advice is appreciated. TIA

Dism came in with Windows7, so is not available for Vista (AFAIK).

Dism replaced 3 earlier earlier tools, so you should still have these earlier tools available in Vista.
It may be easier trying a 'startup reair'

That talks about using the original discs, but if you don't have the discs then try running it anyway.
Many PCs/laptops shipped without the discs and instead have a recovery partition/folder (i386) on the hard drive.
