Have posted recently about failing to wake my PC from sleep and it looked like this had finally been resolved by replacing my PSU. Following the new PSU installation I did have issues with inaccessible boot device loop which now appears to have been cured but I now find that all 3 of my fans, GPU, CPU and PSU run constantly. My PC is clean of dust, Core temp and SpeedFan show temps all lower than 50c apart from GPU at 65c, CP usage is under 5% so there is nothing hungry operating and I have tried setting BIOS to default but to no avail. What else can I do?
It is typically for these fans to run non-stop. Do you mean full speed non-stop? Where are the power connectors for your CPU and GPU fans connected? To the motherboard or directly to the PSU? What PSU?
Hello Digerati, nice to hear from you again, I do hope you are well and thank you for replying, in response:- It is typically for these fans to run non-stop. Do you mean full speed non-stop? >>>Never thought about fans running non-stop before although I can understand it for my GPU. I just feel it runs non stop and maybe full speed but I have not heard any speed variation yet which is why I say that, current speed is 1,630 r.p.m for the only fan showing on "SpeeFan" with a mean of 1,613 r.p.m. Where are the power connectors for your CPU >>> By wire to the motherboard, looks like 4pin lateral "oooo" and GPU >>> As part of the Video Card slot directly into the motherboard fans connected? To the motherboard or directly to the PSU? >>> The PSU is connected to the a. CPU 4-pin square, b. the motherboard 24-pin lateral and c. 2 Sata connectors to the Hard drive and the DVD/RW What PSU? >>> Sumvision X3 500W Silent Fan PC Power Supply ATX Computer PSU FREE Power Cable Do please advise, Kind Regards.
As I noted above, non-stop is standard. For many years now they have used variable speeds, depending on temperatures. But recently - particularly in higher-end power supplies, fans may even stop if temps are cool enough. Since your temps are fine, the question is, are your fans running full speed. I suspect 1630RPM is not full speed.
Appreciate your reply Digerati, temps are fine, the only fan speed speedfan shows me is the CPU fan and that is the one which appears to be the one working whereas it didn't always appear to do so. Reason I am feeling that this is incorrect is that historically if there was ever a reason why the fans appear noisy and always running I went and updated BIOS and the fan almost immediately slowed.
Speedfan readings do not tell me if your fan is running at full speed. Only you can tell that. But remember, fans make noise when their bearings are failing too.
Thanks Digerati, no worries, I can confirm its not noisy as such other than it appears to be running non stop and without variation which it didn't seem to do before, however nothing seems to be wrong, like we said earlier nothing is overheating, everything seems to work OK I'll just keep an eye on things. Many thanks as ever Digerati
