I have an Asus N56V laptop with W10 latest upgrade, Office 2013. As per the instructions from Microsoft I have reconnected my Hotmail and Live accounts to Outlook.com, but I am not getting any mail. The only mail I have received, immediately on reconnecting was from Microsoft telling me I need to reconnect Outlook. I have done it twice and got the same result both times. Any ideas, please?
I am a bit confused. First, not all version of Office come with Outlook. So assuming you are using Office 2013 Professional or another that comes with Outlook 2013, we are talking 4 different email programs here. Outlook 2013, Hotmail, Windows Live Mail and Outlook.com. Which program are you using as your main email client?
I have Office 2013 Professional and am using Outlook as my E-Mail client on the laptop. I have attempted to set up my email accounts in Outlook, two of them are non-Microsoft and are working fine. I have two other Microsoft email accounts - Hotmail and Live. Microsoft have sent out a communication saying that all MS email accounts need to be reconnected to the Outlook.com mail server otherwise they will no longer receive emails. I followed the instructions to remove and reinstall these to accounts in Outlook 2013 but I still get the communication that I need to reconnect and no other emails, though I know there are emails on the server which I can view through www.outlook.com.
Understand outlook.com and Outlook 2013 are totally separate. Outlook 2013 does NOT automatically get emails sent to Outlook.com. You have to setup Outlook 2013 to retrieve your Outlook.com emails. Did you do that? https://blogs.office.com/2012/11/15/put-the-power-of-outlook-2013-behind-your-outlook-com-email/
Yes, I did all that. It said on the comms that if there were problems to use the contact button, but when I did I got Page not Found, so no use whatsoever!!
I am sorry that I really have no experience with this since I don't use hotmail or Live. But I do use Outlook 2007 to manage several email accounts from gmail, my ISP and a couple other sources. Have you tried by-passing outlook.com and just use Outlook 2013 to manage your hotmail account? http://www.setup-outlook.com/outlook2013hotmail.php
Unfortunately it did not work. The strange thing is, that it has replicated the folders in the Outlook accounts from the MS Server, but won't populate the data. I think there may be a problem with the laptop as it resolutely refuses to join the Homegroup, even though I have ascertained, as far as I can, that the necessary settings for network sharing are correct.
I wish I knew what to suggest. I do note I had to tell gmail to allow my client to retrieve my email.
That's OK. Thanks for your time. I'll keep persevering and post the solution.... if I succeed in finding one.
