    evening all

could do with a bit of advice, i'm a novice but have come across some read write issues on my web hosting server. It started when i was embarking on a new wordpress project and found there were issues when trying to upload media. After a 'google' of the reported errors i found the problem to be read/write permissions. I ran firezilla and navigated to the directory and found the permissions to be set to 000. I reset them to 777 but got a 'command not recognised' error. They defaulted back to 000

Basically i'm unable to change any file permissions. Would this be something that is locked down by my hosting company. I have other sites hosted by other companies and have never encountered such problems.

    thanks

    Dave
