Someone help me? Every time I boot up my computer and log into my desktop is goes to a black screen with the command prompt open. Usually to get to my desktop I have to enter explorer in the prompt to open it and it will go to my desktop... any ideas?

From the Desktop, start Task Manager then click on the Startup tab. See if there is anything in there that could be opening a Command Prompt window.

Good question. If you are not familiar with a lot of the programs that run automatically it will be hard to tell from Task Manager. Let's try a different approach.

Let's see what starts when you boot your computer.

Download and run Startup List (does not need to be installed, just run it).
When done, click File then Save as and save Startuplist.txt to your Desktop or somewhere you can find it.
Start a reply here and paste the contents of Startuplist.txt into it.
