Microsoft Outlook 2010 will not open. No error message displayed. All other office applications (Word, Excel, One note etc,) open and run normally.
Recently installed Avast 5.0 antivirus, this seems to be when problem started.
Operating system Windows 7 Home premiun 64 bit

If you think it may be Avast, try turning off any Email protection from within Avast. If that doesnt make any difference, disable Avast completely. Note: Do not do anything else apart from trying to open Outlook whilst you have shut down Avast. As soon as you have run the test, re-enable Avast.

Also, have you tried rebooting and seeing if Outlook opens a first time with Avast running?

Thanx for the reply. Had some discssion with someone else who suggested uninstalling Office then reinstalling it.
Did this and got communication error when trying to activate via internet. Disabled Avast and this allowed activation to take place. Enabled Avast and Outlook opened normally.
Downloaded a couple of Microsoft updates and Outlook would not open. Removed the updates and Outlook o.k.
Fairly sure I had also downloaded some updates prior to Avast install so one of these was probably the original cause.
Thanx again for trying to solve problem.
