:alucard: Running Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron on IBM M-41 1.128 gig Ram, P4,40 gig ide hardrive,Ibm crt moniter. When going to the first post of a thread ,I get the wording of the post over in the right hand side of screen over by Member Panel and DAL Partners. Right now while Posting this thread all the smileys are on the right hand side of post window. Are there any fixes for this? I will be slow in posting back as I think I might have broke my ankle this weekend and am getting around on crutches.:1eye:
After going to my Harley Davidson Tech forums and another 2 computer tech forums the above stated problem is only related to this forum/site.
Well thats weird. I tried viewing logged out and everything is fine. I only have this problem after logging in.
Did you turn off Firefox then back on? And or rebooting. Is this a new problem? Did it ever work OK? I have the Heron on another hard drive but have never used it with DAL. If the problem persists I will try it out.
Did you catch my previous post before you posted? I can try leaving firefox if ya think it'll work. I had deleted all personal data under tools menu and reentered site. Like I said earlier, logged out I'm OK, Logged in SNAFU.And no it never worked OK even when I was just using O/S as a live CD to test it out. It had that problem even then but I just diregarded it as a fluke or bug till I went to other sites and found this site was the only one that was affected this way. OWW my leg.
Tried your suggestion. logged out of DAL. Went to google and wiped cookies and everything else. Closed Firefox. Rebooted. Started everything back up. SOS
Just an update, 1st post in page #2 is the same as in page 1 with everything in the r/h corner. I am gonna rest my foot for awhile. I'll get back with you later tomorrow. Also aint Dan Penny using this O/S on 1 of his systems.He could tell if this is just a problem on my end. Usually is anyway,Ha Ha.
My PCLINUXOS is the same way. Sometimes it will be covered over with adds & you can not read it. So you have to guest what the question is.
OK Jephree has no problerm but two bits does. That leads me to believe my problem is not an isolated one. Don't know what is causing this. I guess on this site when trying to read 1st post on any page I can log out to read it and log back in to post. Thanks jephree for checking on it for me. Thanks two bits for letting me know I'm not alone in this.
It is interesting to note that this web site is drastically different on different computers. Even with the same browser and operating system. I have my home computer setup in such a way that I see no advertising on this site save the right hand column. Yet I have logged on on other computers and experienced massive ad pop ups including full page stuff from HP most noticeably. I have the IE7 pop up blocker and Phishing filter in place but nothing beyond that save the XP firewall. I don't know if Firefox has a pop up blocker but it might help.
I've just switched to IE7 from Firefox because of this type issue. I haven't given up on it at all. It's just that my current hardware is limited after some switching around of my components. I'll get back to it in the (near hopefully) future.
