Laptop ATI Radeon 9000 Drivers needed

    Hi,

I have just reformatted the hard drive on my MESH laptop. I need to instal appropriate drivers but having great difficulty specifically with the ATI graphics drivers.

I used DriverMagic to find the drivers (MESH website is useless!). As an aside I would have thought that the manufacturer would have an easy to find page that said something like "for model XYZ download the following drivers!" Nothing like this appears on the Mesh site.

All seems ok excepte for the video drivers and DirectX. The ATI drivers won't load and I get the error messages "INF error Video Driver Not Found" and then "Set up was unable to complete the installation Use Standard VGA driver"

Where can I get the suitable drivers - at the moment my machine is very slow with any display related task.

Also I don't seem to have any DirectX installed.

    Thank you.

    Martin

I have an Intel chip, is it OK to use the AMD Catalyst driver pack?

    Martin

PS I tried the MESH site, I registered my laptop when I first got it but the reference Icon for my machine when I log in to the Mesh site does not respond. (A later one for my daughters machine works OK). I tried to re-register but the system did not recognise my serial number. I think they are only interested in new machines. I won't ever purchase from them again if that is the case.

    Martin

PPS Thank you for rapid reply - I'm amazed!

Because on the machine is a label (original) that says ATI Radeon Mobility 9000

I have the handbook here and it says Intel Pentium 4 processor (3.06GHZ) and ATI Mobility M9 128MB DDR graphic memory. Fully DirectX 8.1 compliant.

I tried the Catalyst pack but just got error messages.

    Thank you

    Martin

Problem really is that i have to give a major presentation next week using video and can't get my laptop to work!

I would try the ATI 9600 or 9700 or 9800. Trial and error.

The only "legacy" driver I can find for a specific 9000 is only for Windows '98.

See what happens when you try to install the current drivers:

    http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

I am assuming that MESH did not provide a Driver CD? But they did supply a Recovery CD?

Everytime I try to search for the drivers I seem to keep returning to the AMD page that I got to originally. Am I unique in having an ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 on an Intel Machine?

I am sure that somewhere there is a link to the ATI site where the drivers are available, just can't find it.

I have again put in a request to the MESH customer support, but don't hold out much hope. I would have thought that anyone with a 3/4 year old computer would be worth looking after for a resale! I have located the reference for my machine (MESH Ultima 16.1") on their site but they appear to no longer recognise the serial for my machine (used successfully previously).

    Hi Jephree,

Success!!! I found that my machine is actually a Clevo 888E rebadged by MESH.

I logged onto www.clevo.com.tw and presto there was my model - after a short search. All the drivers were available and the machine is now clicking along like a new thing!

Tried run -> dxdiag and it passed all the tests so I guess all is OK (there were some files missing from the download, so I chose the option to skip them!).

    Many thanks

    Martin
