Clicking on download button only reloads page

I'm running XP Pro SP2 fully updated, with Firefox 2.0.0.3 and having a problem with 1 particular website which has various stuff available to download.

When I click on the download button under an item, the page reloads instead of the usual little window appearing and prompting me to save the file.

I have no problems with any other site I've gone to and attemted to download from.

I went to the FAQ's for the site and found this:
Q: I can`t download anything! Page reloads or I get an error message.

A: Please read the answer carefully, because it's the most asked question. You should temporarily disable software that blocks http-referers ("referer" tells where user comes from) such as webfilters (Proxomitron, WebWasher, etc.), proxys and some firewalls (Norton Internet Security, etc.), because some software have disabled referers by default (verify your software settings). Otherwise you might not be able to download the files.

After reading the preceding, I disabled from startup ALL my anti-spyware/malware utilities such as SpySweeper, Pest Patrol, Spyware Guard, and Ad Muncher, and disabled my software firewall. I then attempted to download again, but with no success.

I have attached a screenshot showing what items I disabled from the startup group ( along w/ disabling my software firewall) in my attempt to fix the problem.

Please advise how to fix this reloading problem.

Thanks to all for whatever help you can provide.

hi barebear first of all never turn off firewalls or security software with out you are unprotected on the web it is there for your protection

if you have to download off the www and you are told to disable your software either try another site for the download or be very sceptical as why yu need to disable firewalls

usually if they tell you to disable them there is usually something hidden or maliltous hidden in the down load

you can always ask here for help on down loads and reccomendations for software

make sure that all your security is on amd working please

what web page are you trying to down load from i might be able to recccomend an alternative

    hope this helps

I never got any sort of prompt re your comments " ....if you have to download off the www and you are told to disable your
software either try another site for the download or be very sceptical
as why yu need to disable firewalls

The only reason I disabled was to see if when I clicked on the download button the window with the ACTUAL download prompt would appear.

I had the same problem (page reloading instead of download prompt window appearing) when I tried using Opera and IE6.
