Please advise. I cannot save to the disk drive "d" with a blank cd in the drive.

I am trying to clear the hardrive to save on cd, but there is NO option to do so.

Like saving your work to a floppy. That works but not to a cd. Is there perhaps a path that is not installed.

EDIt portion Do I need to format a cd before I put it in the d drive? The system does not recognize the d drive// Also, The following problem occurs every 10 seconds Just like pop ups. WinMgmt.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. I contacted MS help[ and they said to go in the safe mode and remove the files in the winnt. Repository. Well, it wont allow me to remove them all, I am new at this, so believe ne, i need some quick help. Cant even work on the computer typing because of that error continually popping

Yes , windows 2000, No Burner/ Compaq Presario

    Thank you in advance.

Windows version? I'm assuming Windows 2000 is that correct? CD burner make and model? Has the CD burner worked in the past?

Did you say you don't have a cd burner? You need a cd burner and software to save to cd. If you only have a reader it won't work. It's not quite the same as floppys.

The cd is fine, I meant the drive you put it in. Is it a burner or a reader? Sometimes it will say on the front of it CD/R or CD/RW, you need a CD/RW. If the system isnt recognising it, it's got a problem. I don't know the answer to the error you're getting but someone here will.

Tassie Devil. Yes. I see clearly Now!! Thank you for showing me the difference. I suppose these off the shelf 'puters just have a reader.

Thanks again! This is very helpful. Can you refer me to someone who can help with the posted error pop up?

    Thanks

    Hi,

    With regard to your error...

I had a look around and probably the best thing to do first is follow these instructions and tell me what the scan finds...You will need your Windows 2000 CD to hand.

    Click Start
    Click Run
    Type sfc /scannow

Thanks. I tried the sfc / scannow and it just goes away, nothing occurs, Do I have to have the cd in place?

I do not have the win 2000 cd because I took the computer to work and the it guy installe a new hard drive and installed 2000 himself.

ANy Ideas? I have spaces between.. sfc / scannow

    Thanks for your time

"ANy Ideas? I have spaces between.. sfc / scannow"

The proper command is sfc /scannow

There is a space following the c but no space following the /
