I installed a new faster CPU and sometimes when I boot up my comp it will do a blue screen crash and then when it runs the crash anaylist thing (I have windows XP Home edition) it says that it recommends a bios update. I did the hardware scan on this website this is what the results are: ------------------------------------------------------- OS Information: PropertyValue OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition|C:\WINDOWS|\Device\Harddisk0\Partition1 Service Pack 2.0 OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation Windows Directory C:\WINDOWS Processor: PropertyValue Current Clock Speed 2395 Description x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 9 Manufacturer GenuineIntel Name Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.40GHz Memory (RAM): PropertyValue Bank Label Bank2/3 Capacity 536870912 Bank Label Bank4/5 Capacity 536870912 Total Memory Deteced in Hardware: ~1024 MB Memory Reported to Operating System: 511MB Disk Drives: PropertyValue Description Disk drive Manufacturer (Standard disk drives) Model WDC WD2500JB-75GVA0 Media Type Fixed hard disk media Size 249999160320 (~233 GB) Number of Partitions 1 Installed Printers: PropertyValue Motherboard: PropertyValue Manufacturer Model Name Base Board Part Number Product Serial Number Version BIOS: PropertyValue Manufacturer Award Software International, Inc. Hmmmm... Is this a custom built computer? Award has this utility to for BIOS upgrades: http://www.unicore.com/biosagent/index.cfm If you want to continue to try to ID your board try this: http://www.lavalys.com/products/overview.php?pid=1&lang=en&pageid=1
Yes it was.....my mom got the computer from COmputer Warehouse a local comp company..wasnt a brand name like DEll HP or anything like that...I got a DEll computer but my moms had AGP vid card and all so I put my INtel Celeron 2.4 GHz and she has a 1.8 GHz Intel Pentium 4 and I put my 250 gig hard drive in it and thats basically all that I put in from my comp and my wireless modem...
Searching your chip set #'s just brings up people trying to ID boards. There is some consensus that the board manufacturer would be defunct anyway. The suggestion is to open the case & search the board for a label. Maybe the above site (biosagent) will find something for you. I am not sure if they charge or not. Perhaps we can search from the exact string as seen here: http://www.unicore.com/forms/leads/bios_upgradeform3.cfm 4. You will see a string that looks similar to: 51-0607-0111111-071595-82430VX(For AMI BIOS) 04/25/2000-i430TX-67x-2A59IB0BC-00(For Award BIOS)
YEah they charge 75 dollars for a bios update that they will email to you..frrankly..I dont got that much money LOL I was seeing if there isa ny way I can get a free bios update I dont see why to pay for 75 dollars LOL
We can keep looking. Look for that string. Look at the board. If you try the wrong BIOS it will kill the board. (so they say).
I cant find any liek lables...I see like a barcode thing near the cpu..here is a digital pic I took of my comp inside it...maybe u can tell me where it may be located
Nice pic! Perhaps a silkscreen print on the board... hard to say where... I have my magnifying glass out. From another search of your VIA #'s I found a Korean company called Chaintech & did find a BIOS for it. Gotta make sure tho. Next time you boot try to get that BIOS string. Maybe someone else will recognise the board from the pic.
ok I got the thing at the bottom plus a thing a tthe top..this is what it says after it says Award Modular Energy Star Ally blah blah blahj TYAN Trinity 510 v1.04 110901 This is the bios thing I am thinking from looking at other threads here 11/9/2001-p4x266-8233-6a6lwt59c-00
Well I think you found it! But please verify before attempting to flash BIOS. Here are some links including newer BIOS: http://www.tyan.com/support/html/how_to_flash.html http://www.tyan.com/support/html/bios_faq.html http://www.tyan.com/support/html/b_s2266.html
How do I verify it..and how the heck do I flash it LOL I never done that before and I dont wanna fry my comp or motherboard LOL
To verify I was trying to download the Trinity 510 manual to see if it matches your board. However I cannot download from that site at this time. Dont know why. http://www.tyan.com/support/html/manuals.html As to the how: click on the first link in my last post & read. Reply with your questions & we will try to help.
Thank ytou so much for your help!!! I will see if I can do that and all..I wont do anything until I know for sure its the right one LOL EDIT: I got the manuels to download..i twas a little slow and all but I got them just dont know what to lookf or
I still cant get them... I was hoping there would be a picture (at least a detailed diagram) From which you could visualy ID your board as a match.
