ok, so i got a new computer a few months ago and i have the Windows XP disk! and, whenever my comp really screws up or i get a bad virus, instead of bringin it in and paying 70$ i just re-install XP, it deletes everything and yea... then my sound card wont work and ive tried puttin in the intallation disk for my sound card and i click sound blah blah and then once it get to 99% done installling it does that thing where it goes "this program has encountered a problem and needs to close" Please help!

what is the audio problem; exactly? have you tried updating thru device manager; start/ run/ devmgmt.msc click on audio device; click to update drivers? also in the device manager see if there are more than one audio device; as in card as well as on-board (you may need to shut down the on-board) also check windows update (custom option) there are drivers there if available. also having re-installed XP are you going to re-install SP1 or SP2? there are problems with audio cards & clean installs; here is a thread: sound card clean install also have you tried removing the card & re-installing?
well i have the hardware installed... but not the software my CD does not work for the sound card i have no audio device all i need to do is install the sound card i once found my sound card installation here: www.viaarea.com

i dont know if its a card or an on board chip, and yes i got it from that site before but now i think they have changed it. well my disk has some writing on it and i dont know what its really called so heres whats on it...
