Re: How To Build Your Very Own Computer thanks so much, that website is really helpful, i went to check it out and it has alot of good stuff to begin making a computer, i will start building this year def
GOTO google... its search is VERY good.... If you need any good resourses .. AMD offers a Video on how to install a heatsink, take one off, and comparision od Paste VR Pad.... http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=586899&Tab=9&NoMapp=0
Just a quick note........ When building a new PC please visit reviewing sites to find out the pro's & con's of each hardware component ! This is important !!!!!
Best way to build a comp? I like the "getting a friend to build it method". This way, if anything goes wrong you can blame him....hehehe. Truthfully though, they all need the basic components, such as a tower, power supply, motherboard, CPU, RAM, hard drive, CD-Rom, and modem. A good place to start is to get a bare bones system from a company, such as Tiger Direct or even EBAY. Once you have the tower with the power supply, motherboard, and CPU, you can build from it based off the required specs for the motherboard.
Currently myself and another Head Tech are compiling a Complete guide to building a PC. This will be available from this site in a couple of weeks time
i have done it i bought a barebones off ebay - and i took all the stuff off my old hp pavilion, and put it on my barebones, and its gnarly now. its see through, and it has a twice as better processor anways - my processor socket is a 370 pin, and i cant find any better processors than like 1.4 ghz. I want the highest that I could get - preferably in the 2-4ghz range. Is there any better processors out there for a socket 370, or is there like a converter? thanks
I don't know if there's any adaptors but you certainly won't get faster than 1.4GHz off of a standard socket 370 processor - socket 370 was designed for Intel Pentium III and Celeron processors - after 1.4GHz, you're into Pentium 4 territory which is a whole different ball game.
You could see if there's an Evergreen upgrade processor available but, from what I can see on their technical site, it appears that the fastest socket 370 upgrade processor they do is still only 1.3GHz. Try downloading their System Information Utility (looks at your PC and tells you what options you've got) from http://www.Evertech.com.
The guide is not far off now its a case of getting as much good info in there as possible. I'll give you another update shortly
