cmos checksum error. warning cpu has been changed or cpu ratio changed fail

    ok I got this problem...ived changed the processor of my computer from celeron 2.4 to p4 2.4 4 but everytime that the computer start up the bios check all the IDE drives and the next msg is ....cmos checksum error. warning cpu has been changed or cpu ratio changed fail . please re-enter cpu
    settings in the cmos setup and remember to save before quit.

    what i have tried is load optimized defaults to the cmos but it keeps freezing up while trying to save changes. ived tried to set the jumper from 1-2 to 2-3 but still i got the same problem..ived tried to replaced the battery but it still the error appears..pls hel me..
    anyone who knows whats this error is all about.. i have to use f1 everytime i start my comp..
    pls help me as soon as possible ..thanks a lot

    If the processor is not specifically supported by the board an error will be noted.

    It is hard to tell from here without knowing the board make & model.
    If you can provide that we can look up the manual.

    I, for example, have way over-processed my board & at every boot am told that the CPU code was not found.

    Press F1 to continue. This is what I have to do in order to use my processor.

    This may be your case too.

    Does the board have a BIOS you can upgrade to?

    Do you have any problem other than pressing F1?
