This phone number 855.324.5986 scam up on my wife’s laptop. I warns her that she should call and have the problems resolved. I tried rebooting but I comes back up. I called and told them to remove that from her screen. I got a bunch of B.S. I don’t know who to report this number. I found that it comes from the D.C. area.

It definitely sounds like what is called a Tech Support scam.

NEVER click on any buttons and especially NEVER phone a number that pops up like this.

They will ask you to allow them remote access to 'Fix' the computer, which isn't broken in the first place.
They will charge you an exorbitant amount for this.

If you fall for this then they will often also put all sorts of malware on your computer.
They can then steal your bank details, your passwords, personal information, anything you have stored on it.

If you have allowed them access to the computer then you urgently need to get it cleared of malware.
It may be a good idea to get it checked out anyway, not least to remove the scam pop-up.

On this forum Broni can help you one-to-one with malware removal.
Start by following his instructions in this link: http://www.techie7.com/threads/68933/

Alternatively there are other places that offer the same one-to-one help, here's just one:
