Recently I purchased a samsung galaxy tab e for a friend that is in bed most of the time due to medical conditions.

I downloaded the Remote desktop app so she could access her PC from bed. However I'm unable to get it to work. I brought it home and immediately connected to my desktop without any problems.

Both systems are PC"s running windows 10 pro. I've done exactly everything I did to get it to work on mine. It just says to make sure wifi and remote setting are enabled on the desktop which they are.

We can surf the web and download apps so the wifi is ok. Any ideas. TIA

Unfortunately she hasn't done any major update, only security and cumulative ones

You have checked that privacy settings etc. are the same on both your and her PC's?

Maybe check your respective router settings as well, especially the firewall settings? (assuming you are connecting through the routers that is).
Maybe try giving both her devices static IP's on the network?

I appreciate that you may already have tried all this.
Sorry, don't know what else to suggest.
