    Angry "Windows media player has encountered a problem and needs to close" error message

    Hi, i keep getting an error message saying windows media player has encountered a problem and needs to close.... it also says that the cause is 2AV plugin for windows media player, this is not in the add/remove programs list and does not come up when i try to search for it, its been going on for ages could you please help????
    i have windows xp home
    windowsmedia player 10

    A first step would be:

    Go to Start > Search (type in) Plug In

    search the results for 2AV to see who installed it.

    i have tried that and 2av plug in dos not come up, if i press ctrl+alt+delete, click on 2av plugin and end task, it closes windows media player

    So when you run Media Player 10 this plug-in is listed in the task manager?

    You don't know who might have installed it?

    Most errors I see relating to shut downs & plug-ins have to do with burning software, mp3's etc. Do you have any programs like that?

    edit:

    Try opening your main drive C: ?
    From My Computer open C: go to Program Files then Internet Explorer then PLUGINS ...see if you see the 2AV there

    i installed it from this disk that i got with a magazine and ive been having problems with it for a long time and there used to be a folder called 2av plugin

    By 'it' do you Windows Media Player 10? or something else?
