    Exclamation Error Message is killing me.

    I downloaded DirectX 9.0c and I couldnt save pics from my digital cam so I did a restore. Well my digital cam is back to the way it was. (Good thing) But now when I try to open my Unreal2K4 I get an error message Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libary, Runtime error. Also when I open my Spyhunter I get VB Crypto error-2146893819 during Crypt-Decrypt, Runtime error-401. These seem to be the only two programs affected as far as I know. Does anyone know what I can do to fix it? I've read on some sites and it's looking like a DirectX problem but I'm not sure and dont want to do all of this for nothing. And the bad thing is I'm on dialup. Please help!!!

    Everything I see searching this error leads to a malware problem.

    Spyhunter itself is a malware problem. You might want to get rid of that first.

    Then follow all of Owen's instructions HERE once you have completed that post your log on the Spyware, Adware and Viruses board.

    Just a follow up on SpyHunter:

    The following is from this link that is a list of untrustworthy spyware programs

    http://www.spywarewarrior.com/viewtopic.php?t=68

    hello
    spyhunter the fake spyware removers company has now started selling fake fire walls
    steer well clear of ENIGMA there scam ware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Note on Enigma SpyHunter: Enigma's SpyHunter anti-spyware application was listed on this page primarily because of the company's history of employing aggressive, deceptive advertising (1, 2, 3, 4, 5). The company was also known for exploiting the name "spybot" in its domain names and online advertising. These objectionable business practices were employed primarily from late-2002 to mid-2004.

    Thanks for the fast reply jephree. I've removed it and I still get this message when I try and run Unreal Tournment 2K4. Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libary
    This application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way. I do also run Adaware so I'm going to run it and reboot. I'll post if this fixes anything. Again thanks for the input. This site is awesome

    perhaps Unreal2k4 needs direct x 9?

    I found this thread interesting:

    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libary, Runtime error

    Which includes this site: Library Bundle

    which came from a search Here

    I would still suggest posting a HiJack This log in the spyware section just to see what's up in there.

    There is no reason Not to have & use Adaware. It is a very good program & some of the threads above even suggest that it cleared up this problem.

    See if you see anything interesting in those threads & I'll keep looking too.

    Thanks, I did reinstall Adaware from the link you gave me. Mine was acting up anyway. And also I did reinstall the directx 9.0 yesterday just to see what would happen and if the problems would go away but It's still the same. I'll read on what you gave links to. Again thanks for the help.

    Also what is the exact full error message: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libary, Runtime error (are there more details?)

    Check your Event View under system & applications tabs for red X errors that coincide with a runtime error. You can open Event Viewer via: Start/ Run (type in) eventvwr.msc

    EDIT:

    Another Error check is Start/ Run (type in) dxdiag
    look under all tabs for "problems"

    Basically under event I have some application errors and the error message was what I put in my post about the this application has requested the runtime to terminate in a
    unusual way. I did look at one of the sites you suggested and it looks good but it was for Win 98. They have another site listed there for bundled Libary updates but at 4 diff. versions. I'm trying to find out which I would need. I'm running XP Home with SP 1

    Did your camera & game work before DX9?

    Saw one post to re-install software on top of DX9.

    Just looking back, that error tells one to check the application for issues;
    i.e. not neccessarily an OS problem. So I went to:

    Unreal Tournment 2K4

    what about the updates here for 2k4:

    2k4

    There are support areas on the right tool bar of the main site;
