trying to figure out the easiest way to repair winsocks in xp.Tried restore,removed registry keys and reinstalled tcp protocol.tried a few popular repair programs but stil no luck. I am trying to get dial up for laptop to use outside of home.I have a LAN at home but pretty postive LAN is not interferring with dial up .Trying out AOL right now but cannot get it to work.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just to clarify here...Are you trying to just connect to AOL straight through your modem into the phone line? or are you trying to connect to AOL over a LAN via another PC?

If its over the LAN what error are you getting? Have you configured AOL for a connection via the LAN?
