DJNafey,
I didn't say that "I just put a Celeron 2.0 ghz cpu in a ABIT MB VI7 P4 SOCKET478 VIA-PT800 800FSB DDR400 AGP8X AUDIO SATA150 RAID...would be the best"
I said "I just put a Celeron 2.0 ghz cpu in a ABIT MB VI7 P4 SOCKET478 VIA-PT800 800FSB DDR400 AGP8X AUDIO SATA150 RAID...would be better".
Ofcourse, you can add a 30 pages documentation which will tell you if it supports the Celeron or not but I chose not to. Thats all
My Celeron 2.0GHZ is fully compatible with the motherboard I checked myself...also I put this all together myself it isnt my first time either but it is my first time with a P4 motherboard.... there are no errors when the Motherboard reads the memory or the HDD or CD-RW drive everything works great until I try to install Windows or boot up windows.... i set HDD to primary boot and when it try's to boot up Windows the pc restarts.... so then i decided to just do a clean installation of Windows but as soon as I press enter it reboots so im confused.....
sorry if i continue to be off the mark here but you have me confused and curious.
you set the HDD to primary boot? i thought the HDD was blank?
discribe "freezes" ... what happens?[Situation]I got BIOS running and have full access to it.... I set CD-ROM drive as primary boot device.... and I am trying to install Windows XP to a clean HDD....
[Problem] When I try to install Windows XP the pc boots up the disk but then freezes when it trys to install....
just to reiterate: a drive that has xp on it will not work on any other computer other than that upon which it was installed.so then i put a HDD that had windows XP on it and after it verified pool data it rebooted
(just to test your system perhaps try to install another OS)
this is a free Linux based download that can be burned to CD & booted

http://www.xtremepccentral.com/forum...ght=xp+rebootsyeah i ruled out the problem it was my power supply i had a 300 and i upgraded to a 420 but thanks any way man
or this:
http://www.duxcw.com/yabbse/index.ph...;threadid=4291HAVE HIGHER WATTAGE TO THE POWER SUPPLY ADDED
The wird thing happen is a sign with out a good reason for the power supply to be up in wattage or there might a short in it.
