Well..i downloaded a bad file, now no programs work at all. They all say missing .exe I have XP home. In 98se i was able to get in MS-DOS mode and do scans of the registry and the disc and do a restore. I dont know how to do that in XP yet. If i go in safe mode i get the same errors that pops up. spoolsgx.exe or somthing like that. I can access folders and everything, just opening programs except for norton protected recycle bin.

well how do i get my pc cleaned of viruses without using a program. Only thing i can do is search files and look at folders and files. "Run" won't use cmd or regedit or anything. I have to use safe mode with command prompt

i cant do a systm restore. The way microsoft said to do it didnt work, so i tried debugging mode and it popped up system restore for me, but it said it couldnt do it because of a missing system restore .exe file
