Can't Find My Modem
I have an IBM t21 model 2647 8au and have just changed from WIN 2000 to WIN XP. Everything has loaded and working fine but when I try to put my MSN acct. on it says there is no modem present. When I check system hardwear the modem is there as XIRCOM MPCI 56 Winglobal. any ideas on how to get the new OS to recognize this modem?

Go into Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager and see if your modem is listed under the 'Modems' section. If it is, does it have an exclamation mark against it? If it does, this means there is a problem and the modem needs to be re-installed. If not, double-click on the entry for the modem in the list and see if any of the tabs say anything about a conflict with another bit of hardware in the laptop.
If everything is OK, you should be able to go into Control Panel > Modems and see it listed there. If everything's OK in Device Manager but it's not listed under Modems, then click the Add button and let it auto-detect the modem.
Please let us know whether that solves the problem or whether you need more help.
