I've have 3 hours to get this fixed (please help)

Hi, Ive just installed XP service pack 2, and now both my dvd-rom (hitacgi GD-8000 and my cdrw) are VERY selective in what dvd's they read. I can play audios and vcds, but for some reason, only certain dvds will play. Ive tried unstalling the rom, tried rolling back driver, but none was found, reinstalling powerdvd 4, tried a trial version powerdvd 5. I cant understand it, can anyone help here, I have a few rented dvds and I cant watch them, I cant even rip them as there not recognized. Device manager says the rom is ok. Last night it read a dvd, but powerdvd said it was an unsupported format. The disk are clean, and have to back in 3 hours, if you know what causing both roms to do this please help.

    Novice.

    sorry we missed the deadline

and I don't have much to add except there are tons of problems with SP2 & certain DVD drives.

if everything was fine prior to SP2 you might want to consider removing it.

as well as; or; consult the web sites of your drives & check for SP2 issues.

i did see some issues concerning the "region" selection.

    google search here

sorry i can't be more help at the moment
