    Windows XP google page redirected

My Win XP has been sluggish, and recently my Google homepage is getting occasionally redirected to Google or to Google.

Thoughts about the Google issue, and about whether I am virus infected?

Have you scanned for malware? You might also purge the hard drives of clutter with Windows XP Disk Cleanup to clear out any corrupt cookies. Then do a supplemental scan with Malwarebytes's Anti-Malware (MBAM).

Yes I have done some scans, which may have fixed the Google homepage redirect.

Here's what I did--based on previous advice from this forum

    Ran:
    SuperAntiSpyware
    Malwarebytes
    Gmer
    Hijack This
    Combo Fix

Combo Fix found Rootkit.ZeroAccess in the tcp/ip stack among other things.

I have logs if you'd like to see them.

Also--I have an old version of Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition that I can't remove because it asks for an "uninstall Password".

Also--comboFix said I have AV Security Essentials running, but I don't find it in Program Files, or in Add/Remove, to know what it is or how to remove it.

My AVG free has expired, and I'd like to clean out out Virus scanning software before installing something new. Also would like your recommend on what Virus software to use.

Thanks for all of your help

Try the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall your Norton product.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials for anti-virus along with Malware Bytes Anti Malware Pro.

Thank you. I got the old Symantec removed.
I read that AV Security Essentials is malware, so am wondering if the Malawarebytes scan I did has cleaned it or if it's still lurking.

Can you tell if my system looks okay from the Hijack This log below?

Anything you can tell me to do next will be appreciated. Thanks for the help.

We don't handle malware problems here. It does look like you may have a problem though so go to the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and Malware Removal forum, read the first post and follow instructions.

Come back here once you get a clean bill of health if you still have problems.
