Exclamation New MoBo, old hard-disk, Windows not booting

    Hi,

I have an Acer Veriton M460 desktop PC, recently some capacitors blew up and i sent the PC to Acer's service center. They changed the mobo with a new one but when they tried to start the PC, Windows was not booting. they suggested to re-install but i told them i will try to fix that myself. I tried "Safe Mode" but it also hangs during the loading of it, same thing happens when i try the "Recovery Console" or the Windows CD for repair install. When u boot normally after the POST screen goes away it just hangs with a black screen, the Windows logo doesn't even appear. I also noticed that the HDD led lights on the front panel r not glowing when it hangs.

i managed to fix the old mobo, with a temporary fix and followed the steps in this page:
How to install a new motherboard without reinstalling Windows
but when i put the new mobo back, again i get the saaaaame Windows not booting problem!!

    please help

I agree with Acer. You should reinstall Windows. This will force Windows to re-setup all the hardware device drivers (and there are many on a motherboard).

Use sysprep to strip XP of it's drivers before swapping the boards. That should resolve the problem.
