(New Build) Non-working Mobo USB connectors

    Hey,

I have a new XP build, which is running a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P motherboard. On the rear is 4x USB connectors, but only 2x of them work.

The ones that are part of the LAN connector appear to work fine (although if I have anything connected to them the computer wont boot, but I assume thats a BIOS issue) as do the USB connectors that are on the front of the case.

The ones that dont work are marked Foxconn on top if that helps.

I have tried installing the USB drivers a few times, but to no affect. In the Device Manager, there are 2 devices listed as unknown, but are unupdateable due to the nature of them being unknown.

Other than that, I have had great issue using VGA via the motherboard. I hasnt ever wanted to work, but DVI did and I havent tried since, but that maybe only tagentally related.

    Cheers

    Pete

    Hi Peter

According to your manual here http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList...mt_v.3.1_e.pdf
USB comes in the manual in 2-6 Integrated Peripherals and are enabled by default

But check to see the following are enabled in bios

Onboard USB 3.0 Controller (Etron EJ168 USB Controller) j
Enables or disables the Etron EJ168 USB controller. (Default: Enabled)

    USB Controllers
Enables or disables the integrated USB controllers. (Default: Enabled)
Disabled will turn off all of the USB functionalities below.

    USB Legacy Function
Allows USB keyboard to be used in MS-DOS. (Default: Enabled)

    USB Storage Function
Determines whether to detect USB storage devices, including USB flash drives and USB hard drives
    during the POST. (Default: Enabled)

If all the above are enabled it would suggest that the motherboard may be faulty.

If 15-pin D-Sub connector (VGA) isn't working but DVI was this would suggest a faulty (after ruling out a faulty VGA cable) motherboard.
