    Hi kj27 Welcome to D.A.L

You may possibly have deleted something connected with your graphics card drivers.

Have you tried the most obvious solution of doing a system restore.
If not could you give that a try.
How to do this can be found here System Restore XP - How to Use System Restore to Undo System Changes in Windows XP
If that doesn't work. Could you first check in task manager by going to run and typing devmgmt.msc
To make sure there are no yellow exclamation mark along side display adapter and your sound, video and games controller.
If there are yellow exclamation marks you will need to reinstall the drivers for those devices.
Do you know what the make and models of graphics and sound card?
If not can you give us the make and model number of your PC so we can help you find out what they are.

    Hope that helps
