    Secunia and File Hippo

    I am having problems with running these programs on one of my machines - xp pro, sp3,

    I have running on other machines with no problems.

    So heres the problems.

    Secunia -

    2.0.0.4003 AND 2.0.0.3003 both install and run ok, but when I scan it goes to through to the 2nd last option and says "scan aborted" before it completes.

    I have checked some posts online with the same problems, and it it says to revert back to 1.0.5.2, but when I do that it gives me a DEP error and does not run.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    File Hippo update checker gives me this error...
    FileHippo.com Update Checker has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
    Anyone know how to fix these ? Thank you....
    Have you scanned for malware?
    I have had similar problems with Secunia in the past. The solution was to totally uninstall PSI. Then totally uninstall FlashPlayer using the Adobe FlashPlayer Uninstaller. Then re-install the latest version of the FlashPlayer from here. Then reinstall PSI and see what happens.
    I have not used File Hippo, but I would try something similar if PSI works.
    All the above assumes your system is free of malware and working fine otherwise.
    Malware ..... no I havent completed any scans....next job...
    Tried your suggestion. Still getting "Alert. Scan aborted" at Matching data with Secunia File Signatures engine stage in both of the latest versions I have in PSI, BUT I can get the 1.5 to run OK now though.
    File hippo, no change though - I get
    "FileHippo.com Update Checker has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
    I will run malware checks and report back...
    I am not finding anything. I might suggest you ask on the Secunia forums for 2.0. I saw where it does say Secunia needs IE to connect. Is that current?
    I have decided to "be happy" with version 1.5 of Secunia :-)
    File hippo ? I still haven't found and answer, but there seems to be a number of "other programs" that seem to do a similar job. File hippo was recommended to me here, and I have it working on other machines, so it would be nice to get it working on this machine. I havent tried any other at this time.
