    Display setting issue

    Hello D-A-L members

Bit of an issue with display settings going on. I have an old Packard Bell desktop in my office as spec below. I want to use a samsung tv as my monitor but i cant adjust the display setting to fit my desk top onto the screen. Its locked at 656x496. I have tried to update my drivers to no avail.

    Any ideas, different video card?

Both my laptop and netbook work fine with the TV

    XP sp3
    AMD semperon 3000+ 1.8ghz
    512 gb ram
    N vidiaG force FX 5200
    TV - Samsung LE20S51BUA

I can't find any info on that TV.

How are you connecting the two? Preferably, you would use a digital connection via HDMI or DVI.

Thanks for the reply, never thought about using s video so found a lead and gave it a go. It gives a picture but the clarity is terrible, really blurred. I have no other options as there are only s video and vga on the card and the TV.

Well, it still seems you should be able to adjust the card's resolution the TV supports. You might check this out: How to connect your PC to your HDTV -- Engadget
