    Unhappy No Sound coming from my EMachine

    I recently reinstalled my operating system on my EMachines (2). Everything works fine except that I am unable to get the sound to work. It appears as though the sound is palying, however, nothing is coming through my speakers. I went on the site and downloaded the sound driver, still no sound. I even tried adding a new sound card on both, still no sound. I am very frustrated...can anyone help? Should I take the sound card out of the slot?

    Thanks

    Is there a yellow mark next to the sound card in Device Manager? If so then the driver(s) you installed did not work for that card.

    What is the make and complete model number of the eMachines computer?

    Is the volume slider moved up (not at the bottom)?
    It's not muted?

    Welcome to D-A-L.

    First, as Ztruker noted:
    Is the volume slider moved up (not at the bottom)? It's not muted?

    And, if external speakers, make sure they're plugged into the GREEN sound port. If you have FRONT and REAR Sound, make sure they are BOTH engaged.
    If the above is all OK, one of the easiest ways to identify what you need for sound properties is to;

    Download, install, and run Everest Home Edition on this machine. (CLEAN FreeWare) Once it's finished loading and running, click the + sign next to;

    Motherboard. Click on Chipset. Post the information listed after South Bridge exactly as it is listed. (example; South Bridge: Intel 82801GB ICH7)

    Multimedia. Post the information listed under PCI / PnP Audio exactly as it is listed.
