Hard drive space

Re: Hard drive space
I run Directory Report all the time at work
I have to debug multiple client code branches which are generted weekly,
so I am constantly running out of disk space on my local drive and
I need Directory Report to show me where I can save some space
Sometimes I want to apply a filter to only scan source code files
WinDirStat does not have any filter capabilities
I don't care where the app is installed, as long as all the files are removed during an uninstall
If you don't like the shortcuts, then just delete them - no big deal
I don't want ALL my drives to be scanned since scanning network drives will take overnight
It takes a few seconds to learn how use Directory Report - no big deal
I made a comparison on features between the two programs
Select one or more folders to scan DR-Yes WDS-No
WinDirStat can only scan ONE folder
Save previous directories and drives
that were scanned so that you don't have
to browse for them all over again DR-Yes WDS-No

If the program works for you then that's great. However you can argue your points all day long but that doesn't mean that it's better than windirstat; that doesn't mean that it's worse either it's just different. Obviously neither are going to work for everyone and digerati was making points on how he feels like software should perform and how customizable it is to the user's needs so there is no need to get defensive over it. For example he likes software that will allow him to install it onto a partition other than the windows partition because on his system he, for the most part, doesn't want programs to be installed there. He has his own reasons for that and he must not really care for programs that don't have that option. If you felt like he was attacking you then I'm sure that you where wrong.
