    recovering passwords from SATA harddrive

Hi, my PC is doesn't boot at all.
Going to buy a new one but need to recover all my passwords from the old one.
If I put the old SATA hardrive in an external encloser will I be able to connect to the new system via USB and recover the passwords using a password recovery tool?
or will it only recover them in the system its used in?

We can't really help with password recovery here because we have no way of telling true ownership of the computer. But to answer your question, it depends on the password you are trying to recover, and the condition of the hard drive. You should plan on all passwords being lost.

the passwords I really want are the outlook email account passwords and my broadband account passwords as these were set up years ago and long since forgotten about.

Hard drive is in good order as far as I can tell my PC issues are hardware related thats why I was going to buy a new system

The same Rules apply. We will not provide help with any password circumvention.

Right. While it is likely you are the rightful owner and you really did forget the passwords, we have no way of verifying who you are or that the computer was not stolen, or you are not trying to read someone else's mail. You have two options. (1) Find your original disks and reinstall. Or (2) visit a reputable shop with computer and software licenses and let them do it.

Hi I appreciate what your saying and the reasons behind it.
But I dont want help in how to circumvent passwords, I know how to do that if I could get the PC to boot.
All I would like to know is if I remove the drive and connect it to another pc via an external enclosure to USB would it show them or would it only show them when connected to the existing now non working PC?

"....if I remove the drive and connect it to another pc ...... would it show them or would it only show them when connected to the existing now non working PC?"

It won't show them. However, you should be able to see the contents of that hard disk. Since you're not booting from that hard disk, it will be treated as (another) drive (D:, E: F:, etc) in another machine.

so the only way to recover my passwords is to get the faulty PC to boot and recover them on that system?
    Thanks

Another consideration when helping with passwords is that someone might read the thread later and act upon it maliciously.
