    Internet Explorer glitch

Hi All, hoping you can help me... I tried to install IE8 tonight 4 times..but it wont install. It goes thru the whole shebang, I restart the computer and NOTHING... its like it hasnt even run, yet its showing up on my Revo Uninstall. When I try to install again, the file goes thru the process of uninstalling the previous version... There is no previous version... I have just reformated the computer with a clean install.

Its got me beat... I do have firefox installed, is that the problem?
Would appreciate any assistance.... thank you

Are you connected to the Web (Internet) during the IE8 install process?

Do you have Administrator privileges for the install?

Hi Dan, yes I am the administrator and yes I was connected to internet.
I tried again this morning with no gain, so I tried install of IE 7...
This did install, but with no shortcuts... I had to go into Program files and create a shortcut to Iexplore.
I have no idea what is happening here, Im not having trouble with other downloads.
However at least I now have access to a 2nd browser if needed.

Personally I think that v 7 is better than 8 but overall I hate IE and I use it as little as possible. I use Firefox instead. I wish that I hadn't installed 8 and I refuse to go to 9 (which isn't available for XP anyway). What happens when you try to create a shortcut? The easiest way to do so is to right click on the program and under Send to select Desktop (create shortcut). You then move the shortcut wherever you want. You can do that with any file.

Thanks Towns and yes I agree with you. I only have IE on the computer in case for some reason I lose Firefox. Im not keen on IE at all.
I had made a shortcut by the means you suggested, however when I tried to pin to my start menu, I couldnt, so I guess its just going to have to clutter up the desktop Cheers

A shortcut has to be in the start menu before you can pin it. Right click on your start menu button and select either open or open all users. Click on the programs folder and move/copy the shortcut in there. Sorry if I'm wrong on the names. I'm not currently running XP.
