PC not booting ntldr missing
My PC started crashing on boot up, I tried using rescue disk to restore boot files but now get ......
NTLDR missing ..press any key to restart
tried this as advised on forums.... using windows XP disc
copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\
Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.
all I get is access denied ...
my DVD drive is H and changed this in the above commands and my HD was labelled as I: when PC was working OK,drive due to being assigned I: when formated ...
the HD drive is a sata drive which is recognised during the boot sequence
Any assitance greatly received ...

Try the following, understanding which Drive Letters are assigned to your devices;
NTLDR is missing
Also ensure you have Administrator privileges during any applicable elements of the process.

Yes I had already tried those two that I found doing a search.....
I cannot get the USB drive to be read when in command promt to try the USB recovery...
I tried changing bios settings to USB boot but it never does...

Are you sure your USB drive has been made bootable?

Files on Windows CD are compressed, so you have to use "expand" command, not "copy"
expand e:\i386\ntldr.ex_ c:\
expand e:\i386\ntdetect.co_ c:\

The two files mentioned are not compressed. Those files help in setting up a system structure to load/copy.
