    Have to re-activate Windows?

    Hi,

I am getting a screen up on my computer when I switch on saying

Since Windows was first activated on this computer the hardware has changed significantly. Due to these changes Windows must be reactivated within 3 days.
Do you want to reactivated now.

Switched on this morning and I'm now down to 2 days in which to re activate,

I have had this computer for years and it has been into be fixed a few times, with things that have gone wrong, so I guess it has changed alot since I brought it.

What will I have to do to reactivate? will I lose stuff on my hard drive?

    Thanks.

Assuming it is a legitimate copy of Windows, you should have no problems at all. In most cases, you can simply reactivate over the Internet by clicking that link. If the activation fails, you are typically given a phone number to call. All you have to do is tell the truth - the machine was repaired and now you are prompted to reactivate. They will likely give you a long string of characters to enter and you will be good to go.

In any case, you will not lose your data. However, if you are worried about losing your data, it is a telling sign you need a current backup.

Thanks for that, I will go ahead and activate now, I still have all the original discs that came with the computer so fingers crossed it will all be ok.
    Thanks
