OC Fail

OC Fail
I have just had a power supply failure. A replacement has got me my computer back however I get a strange message while starting up.
This occurs during the BIOS part of the start up, before Windows itself starts.
It reads "OC Fail, enter BIOS to restore, F1 to continue." Hitting F1 continues the start up normally, and I get (so far) no other error messages.
Even my clever friend who diagnosed the problem I was having (no video at all) as likely to be a power supply issue, and who installed a new power supply for me is nonplussed at what this might mean.
Can some smart cookie please suggest what this OC may mean and what part of the BIOS I need to tinker with to sort this issue.

OC = Over Clocking. Are you over clocking your computer? Have you gone into BIOX setup and loaded the default values?

Hi Ztruker,
No I am not over clocking my computer, not intentionally anyway. Until your post I did not even know that is what OC stands for.
Is over clocking covered in the basic or advanced part of BIOS? The only time I have gone into BIOS at all, is to alter the First Boot Device when doing a Windows reinstall, otherwise all settings in there should be at default values, or whatever the people who assembled the computer set them to, and I rather doubt they would have set up a new system to over clocking.

All I can suggest is to go into BIOS setup as I mentioned and load Default values, then set the First Boot device again as needed.

Resetting the BIOS to fail safe defaults has removed the OC issue, and the machine now starts normally.
Any ideas on why replacing the power supply would cause this problem? Or is that like asking how long is a piece of string?
Thanks for your help Ztruker, 'tis appreciated.

I can't think of any reason, unless you removed the CMOS battery during that time as well and the BIOS somehow got scrambled.
Glad it's fixed though.
