Ok, for starters I have a gateway desktop. Model GT5056. I just got a new hdd for it and installed it properly. I put in the system restore disc and it froze the first time. The second time through it made it all the way through, but appearently didnt get a certain file... I have not been able to get it to run through the whole restore process again for the past 6 hours... It is really frustrating, any help would be greatly appreciated. The file it is missing is <windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe I cant get into safe mode or normal mode or anything with Windows b/c that file is "missing or corrupted."

It's always best to use software from the manufacturers site. Drivers and files can usually be found there.
