I am working on a Dell desktop computer that has a problem opening software apps. I believe it is malware. The computer uses windows xp home edition o/s. When I try to open any app or do a repair install I get a window that says there is an extension problem and to click on the solution. It leads me directly to a window that trys to get you to download "DLL Player" which they say will solve all of the extension problems. When you click on the link you must download th DLL Player in order to fix the problem but it is not free therefore this is malware. How do I purge the malware from the computer and/or do a repair install of the o/s. It will not let me use anti virus or anti malware software.
