    The blue box

For about two weeks I have been haunted by a strange vivid blue box about 2 / 1 inches,, It flashes on and off my screen every few seconds. I have to have a quick look at the screen so that I know what is under the blue box... You cannot click on it, it is on top of the programme on the screen , sometimes it is there for a minute, very annoying that, but normally just flashes on and off.. I have asked around, but nobody has ever heard of any thing like it..In the square is ..... Auto adjust. Colour adjust..Contast/Brightness... Information.... Image adjust.. St up Menu... Audio Menu... Exit Select,, One line under another.. Hopefully, Bizziowen..

It sounds like the OSD (on-screen display) menu for your monitor. If it is, then the monitor itself is putting it there and that is why the mouse has not effect. Perhaps the button is stuck.

Congratulations! As for the button location, I don't know. I don't know the brand or model number of your monitor. The buttons for Menu, Power, Up, Down, and Auto (the are the common ones) are typically on the bottom, or edge.

    Good one Digerati.

That's a new one on me.
Can't say I've come across that one before.
They say you learn something new every day.
So that's my lesson for the day done.

Hi Jim, It really is amazing, the things that cam happen to your computer the minute you turn your back. I am convinced that there is something there whose only aim in life is to confuse me. Am quite pleased in a way, because I have grand children who think they know it all, but they did not know how the blue box got there.

    Hi bizziowen

Yes. There's one thing I know for certain. Just when you think you know it all.
Someone/something pops up to prove. No you don't.
And you celebrating your 84 birthday prove. Your never to old to learn.
A belated happy birthday bizziowen and happy computing

    Jim

If there is one thing I have learned working with computers for nearly 40 years, it is that there is always more to learn! And that's the beauty of forums - the world (universe?) of IT is so big, with industries within industries, it is impossible to know it all (in spite of what some folks think of themselves! ), And so forums like this bring together folks from all areas, exposing us to new things all the time. And of course, the ever changing and advancing technologies is enough to keep you on your toes too.
