The blue box

Re: The blue box
Getting rid of the infamous blue box , has made such a difference.. I get quite cross when talking to my friends, at least 75 years plus, when I tell them what a difference having a computer means to me.. They all say the same thing, ''I could not be bothered about that sort of thing'', then they say that old age is dull, and they have nothing they can manage to do... Yet I know a gentleman of 92 who uses the computer to write his life story for his family...

My dad passed when he was 86 but he used his computer daily. My aunt, who is now 86, uses hers even more than he did. She still drives herself about and stays active outside her home, but the computer keeps her "sharp" and in touch and informed with friends, family, and world events.
I have found most folks fall into two categories; non users who don't have a clue what they are missing, and users who would be lost if their computer went down!
Sadly, most users do not prepare for that eventuality.
That said, with the latest cell phone technologies putting the computer in the palm of the hand, the desktop as we know it has the fate of the dinosour. And for me, that will be a sad day because I get enjoyment out building and repairing them.
