Earlier today I had the computer suddenly shutdown and restart. It was so severe that I got a Microsoft error report that took a time to send, then a Microsoft error page come up which suggested downloading the latest updates and drivers. I checked Windows Update this morning, they had nothing new.
Earlier today, while changing desktops I had a message pop up saying that my VGA driver was not up to the mark (not the exact wording, but close).
This is on a new installation, and Windows Update downloaded video drivers (Radeon x300 in two parts), and PSI found a later edition of ATI.
The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-81945GZME-RH which the Gigabyte site says "did not match any documents", (the computer turns 4 in January, that may be a reason) so where to get updated drivers?
A copy of the Error report from Event Viewer is attached, maybe someone can decipher it.
I have yet to do a disk check, I have to do a restart before that can happen. If it shows anything I will post that.
Bottom line....never update any non-MS driver through Windows updates. Always go to computer maker site, or device manufacturer site.
MS has a long history of mistakes, when it comes to non-MS drivers.
Hi Broni,
Roger that, googling ATI drivers atm.
There is also mention on some of the sites of Hydravision, which I have already. Should I install that also?
