Wireless - Can Access LAN but not Internet
On my Windows XP computer, I can access my LAN but can not open any Internet websites in any browser (Firefox, IE, Opera). I can not ping the router, but I can access a hard drive that is attached to the router. I can make & receive telephone calls via Skype, but I can not access any webpages. I can receive automatic Windows updates, but I can not access the Windows website via browser.
I ran the Network Diagnostic for Windows XP utility, and it reset the Winsock provider catalog, but reported an error that it could not "validate the Winsock base providers" and that "not all base service providers could be found in the winsock catalog." I have no idea what that all means or how to go about fixing the problem. I don't understand how I can use Skype but can't access any webpages via any browser.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling my wireless adapter software/driver, but I still can't access any websites. Can someone help me troubleshoot and resolve this problem? I've been trying to fix this for about 5 hours now. Thanks in advance for any help!
