    desktop icons

    I work on WinXP. IE8
I surfed today on children books sites and suddenly my desktop was covered with tens of icons of the jpg type.
I tried to delete the icons but every one copies itself again.
I tried reboot, system restore and CCleaner to no avail
    Malawarebytes didn’t find any infection.
For the time being the icons do not interfere with the work but I prefere to have my desktop clean again.
Please advise what can be4 done.
    Thanks

I enclose the outprint of the desktop here

That is odd. I have seen this before, but it was related to malware and MBAM should have taken care of it. I still think you should have one of our security experts take a look. Please follow these instructions.

    Thank you
I followed the instructions but the GMER closed my computer twice, when scanning, so finally the log is not complete.
After this half-a-day work I found a quick way to delete all the ~400 superfluous files from my desktop, and. wonder, wonder they didn’t appear again even after new booting and rebooting.
So probably the scans did the work, and which one is for you to find.
I attach here the five logs (for posterity?).
    And thank you again.
BTWay the OTL.txt file was too large for attachement so I zipped it.

Sadly, you did not follow the instructions - most notably, Step 5, which explains where to post the logs.

Well, how about sharing what you found so others can learn from your efforts.

How to interpret the logs from the rootkit removal processes in order to find the culprit
