I get that. Hence my enthusiasm for diagnosing failing hardware. However,
is the only thing I've got the equipment for. Not that I'm even contemplating that.
Tried reinstalling windows (the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard is deeply brain-damaged, btw), reinstalled drivers, booted up SC2... and bluescreened within 5 minutes. And because of the the brain-damaged Wizard not transferring my settings, it restarted before I could see the error code. Deeply ****ing frustrating.
So unless anyone can help me further with the diagnosis, I'm off to make friends with my local computer store.
What is SC2?
I think he meant SP2 which is what his install CD is slip streamed with.
Actually Starcraft II. As mentioned, although it will sometimes crash while not doing anything particularly intense, loading up Starcraft II or Borderlands will produce either a GPF or BSOD within 5-10 minutes.
So that would suggest problems your graphics solution.
ok, can i confirm a graphics card problem without swapping?
No. It could still be any number of things, including a stressed or failing PSU, failing RAM, or the graphics solution. Although you tested your RAM, those memory testers are not conclusive. I would run with 2Gb and see if it happens, then swap with the other 2 and see if it happens.
And of course, you must ensure you are providing good, clean, stable power.
