I have a computer that was working fine till.... last week now first I could not start my computer and then after fixing XP by using the Operating system CD, it started. then it would no longer connect to the network but my google talk worked and was online none of my browsers would say so I could ping an address but the computer said it could not contact the iternet I could not directly contact the router or modem.

Show us what ipconfig says: Click on Start then Run and paste the following into the Run box, exactly as show, including double quotes:

cmd /c "ipconfig /all > postme.txt & ping yahoo.com >> postme.txt & notepad postme.txt & del postme.txt"

and press ENTER.

A file will open in Notepad. Please copy and paste the contents here. Close the Notepad window and the file will be deleted and the Command Prompt window will also close.
