How do i clean my hard drive. My problem is if i try to defragment will not allow due to lack of space.Currently at 5% need at least 15% this just happened recently with multi users. The items on hard drive are always used is there something hiding that i can't see. Thanks Bill
It sounds like you need to clear off some junk. You can try regularly using ATF-Cleaner or CCleaner to clear out temporary crap. For CCleaner uncheck to install any tool bar and on your first use click on the options tab --> advanced and UNCHECK Only delete files in windows temp folder older than 48 hours. That might get rid of a lot of stuff but if it isn't enough you'll either have to move or delete personal documents.
Actually, it now says 24 hours, but that won't help much here.
I suspect you will need to go through Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and uninstall programs you don't need. If you don't recognize something, leave it.
Just to clarify, do you mean multiple users on this one machine? Or are several machines affected?Currently at 5% need at least 15% this just happened recently with multi users
Have you scanned for malware?
Is your Page File manually configured, or do you allow Windows to manage it?
Removing programs is also a good idea but it'll have to be big ones (or a lot of small ones) to help you that much. For example you might want to remove a trial of Office if it has expired because if has expired it is of no use to you.
Digerati is also right about malware and your page file especially if you are letting windows control it. How large is your hard drive? You can follow these instructions (steps 1-5) to change your file size. I suggest that you not set the minimum to less than 512 mb. You might want to cap the max at 1024.
