You need to look in your manual for the beep codes, or for your BIOS maker then look up the beep codes. 1 long beep usually means RAM failure - but could be the CPU, or the PSU too, or in worse case, the motherboard.

Don't count on BB taking back that card. It is common for retailers not to take back electronics after they have been installed.

We might be able to help you with the beep code if we knew the make/model of your computer.

    Hi,
Before we start with the troubleshooting, I have few questions for you:
a). Have you tried with safe mode?
b). When has this problem started?
c). Was there any new software/hardware installed recently?

1).Turn on your computer in Safe Mode:
    1. Turn on your computer and keep pressing F8.
    2. Select Safe Mode and hit enter.
    3. Try to launch the applications and check if it works.
    4. If this works, update the device drivers.

2). Run memory test, that will tell you if it's your RAM and/or your DIMM. Then you'll have to figure out which one it is, fairly easy - put your RAM in a verified working PC or put verified working RAM in your PC.
a). Download memtest from "memtest86.com/]Memtest86.com" - Memory Diagnostic.
b). Burn the OSI on CD and boot from the disk and let the test run.

3). It COULD be a heat problem - the 'slow down' could be a built in throttling function as the temperature rises, but it fails to cope and eventually crashes.
Download motherboard tool from "dvhardware.net/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=3]DV Hardware" - Motherboard Monitor 5
    and check the CPU temperature.

4). Also, take the heatsink off the CPU and check for the status of the thermal paste - if there even is any. If there's any left and you don't have extra, don't clean it off, it's all you've got to work with until you can get some new paste, replace the thermal paste.

5). A long beep refers to the memory modules:
a). Just replace RAM slot position also clean it well and try again.
