Computer Died Last night, Need Help.

My computer shut off suddenly last night and was making funny noises and then finally died. Was smelling like burnt plastic so I shut everything down, a while later I tried to turn it on and there was no response.

I thought it might be the power supply and I replaced that this morning and still no luck. The MOBO has a blinking green light but other than that there is no response to the power button or anything else. No fans, no beeps, etc...

I have Windows XP service pack 2
    Core 2 duo E6400 @ 2.13ghz
    Asus P5NSLI
    2 gigs of DDR2 800 Ram
    Nvidia 7950GT x2
    Xfi Extreme Music sound card
Was using 400watt PSU (Test after with 550 watt)

I built this about 2 years ago(maybe a little longer), I take care of it and what not, I checked all the capacitors on the MOBO and none looked bad.
    Please help me out. Thanks.

    If the P.S. is;

    new/functioning,

    it's all connected properly,

and the power switch is known good,

then I suspect that the motherboard, or, the CPU chip has given up the ghost.

Thanks Dan, this will help with further diagnosis. It seems the power source we tried may have also been faulty. I hooked up a 350w PS and when I pushed the power button the fans began to flow(no boot up though, and only the fans within the case, not the CPU fan).

After letting it go for a minute or so the PS started waning as if it was about to die. I am thinking that it was not enough juice to get my machine to boot. At any rate I went ahead and ordered a new PS(500watt) as it definitely is needed. I just hope it didn't take anything down with it when it went out.

Let me know if any of this new information rings a bell to you. Thanks.

Oh and sorry for the double post, wasn't 100% sure of where I should post it.
