Last week Tues- storm with lightning Computers I and my husbands both unplugged from electric outlet, but still connect to modem & router. They are on a separate surge protected box. att modem, Belkin Router (G Wireless).

When later in day tried internet was not working , saw just router light on the router- Called Belkin, att problem. Then att. finally said they had outage. 2 days later, outage over, still no internet. Call att. they determine modem bad sent new one. Husband's computer works direct from the moden to the computer and has internet and all lights on the moden are ok.
THEN still router not working. buy new cables. Contact Belkin & they sending another router (that took 45 minutes to prove it didn't work!

NOW.Question. My Ethernet still doesn't work. (I have Windows XP) My computer was the primary one. Even if it was unplugged could a surge of electricity gone through the phone line and burned out my ethernet card? Is there a way to tell, other than the obvious that it doesn't work. All the cables are fine (new). So when my computer is hooked up to the modem directly, I can't use the internet.
Thanks
