Have been to my father-in-laws house.

Plugged in computer using his modem cable which i know connects to the internet and still no joy. When i try to connect i still get the error message 'no response from remote compter' (not exact words).

However when using his old computer with the same isp details that are on the new computer it successfully connect to the internet.

New pc still dials out and that as far as it gets.

Tried:

- installing sp3
- query`ing the modem
- checking all of the settings, as far as i can see all looks ok
- all isp details i.e telephone number, username & password
- using phone line and cables known to work

To setup connection i have used the new connection wizard in xp as the isp is a pay-as-you-go with no disk available.
